Manual Arts

Since art was called "Techni" in ancient Greece, and the artist was above all a craftsman in antiquity, and since tapestry was a full-fledged activity at the Bauhaus School, École Bilingue Chardin Preschool and Elementary School considers that art should be practiced and encouraged using all types of media.

The benefits of working by hand

Above and beyond the alternative teaching methods, be it Montessori, Steiner, or Reggio, École Bilingue Chardin knows that the practice of manual activities encourages concentration, precision, perseverance, mathematical understanding, and self-esteem through achievement.

Multiple Arts and Crafts

It's not just about making noodle necklaces: at École Bilingue Chardin Preschool and Elementary School we believe that your children can do better by practicing different arts in multiple ways:

  • The kitchen allows children to have fun together while learning the concepts of chemistry and transformation.
  • Sewing, knitting, and weaving first give children the opportunity to practice techniques requiring precision, and then help them understand the entire creation process, from spinning to the final creation, by using counting and spatial representation in a concrete way.
  • Pottery, working with clay but also, for the littlest ones, working with appropriate modeling clays.
  • Basket weaving, pyrography (wood burning), and leather and metal work are learned by the older children.

Your children will amaze you with the quality of the work they will be able to produce.

The work done in the manual arts workshop is also used for the theater (costumes, sets), music (rhythm instruments), or for the general needs of the school.
