Why is it important to learn a language from an early age?

Learning a language from an early age is very important because this is a time when children have this natural ability to learn a foreign language critical to their linguistic development.

Children have a natural ability to absorb and learn languages quickly, which can give them a considerable advantage later in life. What's more, learning a language at an early age can help develop cognition, creativity, empathy and intercultural understanding. Early language skills can also boost performance in other subjects, as bilingual students tend to do better at school. Last but not least, mastering a foreign language can open doors to new cultures, as it allows you to interact and communicate with people from different backgrounds. Our bilingual school, Chardin, offers a bilingual immersion programme from an early age.
